Our products are freeze-dried or dehydrated and are generally considered fresh within six months of their creation. You will find a best-by date on each package, before which the product is at its best. To maximize freshness, keep BioStar products stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and keep bags and jars closed when not in use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Questions? We've given the answers to some of the most common ones here, and we’ll answer any questions you have if you call or email us. If we don't know the answer right away, we’ll take the time to find it! Contact us.
That's up to you. Our products have a "best by" date, which means that while the product may no longer be as potent as it once was, it will not hurt to continue to use it. Similar to kitchen spices, the effectiveness may wane over time, but the supplement is not considered dangerous to use.
While all ingredients are chosen for exceptional quality, they are blended in specific amounts and proportions for formulas that we’ve designed for equine and canine body systems. Due to state and federal regulations, we cannot recommend our products for human use.
We guarantee palatability for your horse or dog. If your animal does not like the taste, simply return the unused portion for a full refund. See our refund policy for more information.
This is a complex question, as it depends on the supplement and the needs of your animals. See our blog post about choosing supplements, with the option of printing a PDF for future reference. Our YouTube channel provides video explanations as well. Call us if you have more questions!
Our products are available in a few select stores across the US and Canada, as well as from select veterinarians and barns. See our map of stores for their locations and contact information. We do prefer to develop direct relationships with our customers, so please let us know if you're happy with the store where you’ve purchased BioStar products.
Our colostrum comes from cows that are grass-fed, pasture-raised, and not treated with recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH). The colostrum is collected only after the first 12 hours of birth and within a 36-hour time frame, when the colostrum is at its peak. Calves alone receive it during the first 12 hours; after that, it is shared. Because of the pasteurization process and a subsequent centrifugation step, the essential IgG antibodies can be concentrated from a minimal volume of collected colostrum. Calves are not separated from their mothers, ensuring the higher quality and quantity of milk that results when a cow is allowed to raise her calf. Find more information on our colostrum here.
While not biodegradable (we need them to stand up to light and heat to be suitable for the supplements), our bags are recyclable as #7 plastics. If recycling is not available in your region, rest assured that our bags are considered "landfill friendly" because they collapse flat and do not impact landfills in any significant way.
BioStar accepts all major credit cards, as well as PayPal and Apple Pay.
